24.03 14:45: Phase 2 is back in operation. Please check

for a list of changes (will be updated). The system is at reduced capacity (~ 80%) until nescessary spare parts arive. We need to modify the modules of the ANSYS software, so they will be available only later this week.

23.03 16:15: Most problems have been solved over the weekend and we are currently booting first nodes. If all subsequent tests go well, we will resume Phase 1 operation tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 24.04). The Phase 2 should be available earlier; probably already in the morning.

19.03 15:00: During the maintenance we observed a high rate of hardware failures, which accumulated some delays. We are currently bringing the sytem back up again and require some time for testing. Therefore, user operartion of Phase 1 will resume earliest on Monday 23.03. If possible, we will open Phase 2 again tomorrow.

We will upgrade of the SuperMUC-NG Phase 1 (CPU) operating system to SLES15-SP7.

• Starting Saturday 14.03.2026  8:00 we will block the queues of Phase 1 and Phase 2 so all running jobs can finish regularly. SLURM will be upgraded. All queued jobs will be deleted and jobs need to be resubmitted after the maintenance.
• All login nodes will be shutdown with the start of the maintenace on Monday morning. The file systems WORK and SCRATCH will not be accessible during the maintenance. Please gather your data beforehand.
• After the maintenance a new software stack 24.5.0 already available on Phase 2 and the LRZ CoolMUC-4 cluster will become default. The old stack 22.2.1 will be still available, but cannot be supported any longer in case of problems. We will provide an overview of the major changes and guidelines for the transition.
